Podcast: 2012/5/17 – 17:14 minutes

Guest: Dennis Wedlick, AIA

Moderator: Chris Merkel, Director of Web User Experience at AIA National.

In this podcast, we’ll learn more about the Passive House model by speaking with Dennis Wedlick, AIA, one of America’s foremost architects in this area.

Originally developed in Germany, the idea of the “Passivhaus,” - what we call Passive House – is a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency that reduces a building’s ecological footprint, by using ultra-low energy systems for space heating or cooling. The vast majority of passive structures - including office buildings, schools and homes - have been built in German-speaking countries and Scandinavia, but design professions in the United States are starting to turn their attention to this concept.
