AAJ Conference 2013: A new courthouse paradigm: the profound impact of rapidly changing technologies, economics, and community expectations
In this podcast, Erin Costino, Assoc. AIA, Chuck Oraftik, FAIA, LEED AP, Peter Kiefer, and Phillip Knox discuss some of the challenges facing courthouses today. This is a joint presentation by the Academy of Architecture for Justice and the National association for Court Management, or AAJ and NACM for short. This presentation will reimagine and predict the characteristics of tomorrow’s courthouse by anticipating future court operational and facility changes. These changes will result from rapidly advancing technologies, economic necessity, significant operational trends and changing demographics, climatic and societal conditions. This will not be about “tweaking” today’s courthouse. It will be about anticipating the emergence of an entirely new paradigm for future judicial facilities which, in turn, could have an astonishing impact on how “today’s” court facilities are programmed, planned and designed.
