Hao Ko, AIA | Notes of Interest

Hao Ko brings his considerable talents to his role as Design Director for Gensler’s San Francisco Architecture studio. His portfolio includes diverse architecture and master planning work for corporate, academic and institutional clients in the US and Asia. Hao brings contextually appropriate design sensitivity to all his projects, reflecting a unique vision for each design effort he undertakes. He leads his teams by example; ensuring solutions are functional, well researched, and aesthetically effective.

As a member of the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green building council, Hao stays involved in the architecture community and is constantly looking for new perspectives to bring to his work. He has recently spoken about his work with PNC Bank at the Greenbuild Conference in Toronto. He is also involved with the Council for Tall Buildings and the Urban Land Institute.

Hao has recently been selected to be part of Gensler University, which is a select group of professionals identified by the company’s board to look at the specific challenge of sustainability, and the crafting of cities and urban design. He has also been nominated and participated in a year-long ‘Next Generation’ leadership group that looks at Gensler’s future business development. Hao's willingness to take on new challenges, along with his highly developed collaboration skills, have already made him an indispensible member of the Gensler team.

Hao is an amazingly gifted architect and his example inspires both his team and clients with purpose and focus. Beyond his commitment to architectural excellence, Hao is a sincere gentleman who is thoughtful, creative, and humble. He exhibits the talent, leadership, and accomplishment that the Young Architect Award should acknowledge.
