Nicola Solomons, Hon. AIA | Notes of Interest

Nicci is widely recognized for her collaborative spirit of engagement, her passionate dedication to increasing member value, and her skill in finding ways to expand the architecture profession’s influence in the greater Los Angeles community. She has been instrumental in helping the chapter host two successful AIA national conventions, mentored chapters large and small across the nation, and played a leadership role in the Council of Architectural Component Executives at the state and national level.

Perhaps Nicci’s greatest strength is her ability to build and lead coalitions. Under her leadership, the chapter’s relationships with local art and design organizations, the city’s decision makers and politicians, and AIA leaders at state and local components have grown tremendously. She has recently led a comprehensive effort to create a new center for architecture and design as a shared home for the chapter and related design organizations. She has quietly and persistently brought people together around the idea that such a center will strengthen the entire community of architects and designers.

Nicci is completely immersed in the heart and mind of the AIA. She understands and constantly promotes the Institute and is its finest ambassador. Her combination of professionalism, diplomacy, and grace make her a true leader among the ranks of component executives.
