Jeff Yrazabal, AIA | Notes of Interest

Jeff demonstrates rare and exemplary leadership in design, the architecture profession, and community service through his tireless advocacy for collaboration, mentorship, research, and sustainability. He is the youngest person in three decades to be promoted to principal in his firm, SRG Partnership, in Portland, Ore.

As co-chair of AIA Portland’s Committee on the Environment, Jeff expanded the breadth of the committee to include advocates for sustainable practices in city government, stakeholder organizations, and the public. Through the building of these collaborative partnerships, AIA Portland has gained the reputation as the go-to leader of the discussion on sustainable design in Oregon.

AIA Portland quickly recognized the value Jeff brings to the profession and asked him to participate on the chapter’s board. He currently serves as president of AIA Portland, where his team approach to advocating for the profession has empowered members to engage in new and effective ways. He is also a member of the board of AIA Oregon and is the Young Architects regional director of the AIA Northwest and Pacific Region.

Jeff was successful in obtaining an AIA component grant for AIA Portland’s PATH program, which teaches strategic thinking, firm transitions, and planning and business skills to young architects. The program has been shared nationwide through the YAF and serves as a model for all chapters working to support and elevate their young leaders. He has also been instrumental in establishing a three-state mentoring program that unites emerging and young professionals with AIA Fellows for monthly mentoring sessions.
