When will the next Compensation Report/Firm Survey Report be released?

The most recent Compensation Report was released in September 2008. The report is updated and published every two years. The next report will be released in 2010.

The newly updated Firm Survey report, The Business of Architecture: An AIA Survey Report on Firm Characteristics, was released in October 2009. The report is published every two years. The next report will be released in 2011.

What is included in the 2009 Firm Survey report from the 2006 report, and what will be included in the 2011 report?

The 2009 report (Firm Characteristics) includes a profile of architecture firms, information on firm billings and construction sectors served, an update on sustainable design and BIM, and international work.

The 2011 report will include architecture firm services, marketing, information on fees and profitability, technology use, liability insurance, and continuing education/professional development.

What is the Environmental Scan Report?

This report is a compilation of key issues in the political, economics, social/cultural, environmental, design/construction, and technological arena that can have significant implications affecting the architecture profession and the construction industry as whole.

How can I purchase the Compensation Report, Firm Survey Report, or Environmental Scan Report?

These reports are all available through the AIA bookstore, and are available only in PDF format. The 2008 AIA Compensation Report is available as a full report or nine individual regional reports, other reports are available as full reports only.

Why isn't State/Metro Area/City included in the Compensation Report?

The data in the following compensation tables were included only if they met strict reporting criteria. Responses from at least five offices (establishments) were required in order to report data, as were responses for at least five of the seventeen architect positions.

How often is the Consensus Construction Forecast released?

The forecast is released twice a year, typically in June and December. Each forecast covers the upcoming six months.
