2006 AIA Overseas Member Survey

Who are the overseas members of the AIA? Are they in the majority U.S. citizens? Are they architects licensed in other countries? Are the U.S. citizens living abroad on a long or short-term basis? Do they work for small or large, foreign or U.S. firms?

Under the leadership of the AIA’s new International Director, Michael Lischer, AIA, RIBA, the AIA has conducted the first survey of its overseas members. This includes the members of each of the overseas chapters (AIA London/UK, AIA Continental Europe, AIA Hong Kong, AIA Japan) as well as those members residing outside the region of these chapters.

This is an important first step in understanding who these members are and how better to meet their needs. In 2007, the AIA will follow up on this first step to conduct the first member needs assessment of this constituency.

Read the Overseas Member Survey Report and the Comments submitted by members for each of the questions on the survey.
