AIA Public Architects: Call for Volunteers

The AIA Public Architects (PA) Knowledge Community is now soliciting applications for the 2010 appointment to the Advisory Group of the Committee and for consideration for non-appointed Associate Member of the Advisory Group. The advisory group is a five-member appointed committee responsible for the leadership and direction of the PA Knowledge Community. Associate Members participate in Advisory Group planning and activities.  The PA Knowledge Community is the recognized voice for promoting excellence in public architecture and enhancing the role of the Public Architect in the planning, design, and management of public facilities.

For more information about the Public Architects Knowledge Community, please see visit www.aia.org/pa.

Advisory Group Term of Service

Although the official appointment begins January 1, 2010, participation in some late-2009 committee events may also be expected of appointed Advisory Group Members. One new member is appointed to the Advisory Group each year to replace one person completing his or her service.  Associate Advisory Group members are selected at the discretion of the current Advisory Group, and participation is voluntary in many activities, although highly encouraged.  The usual appointed term of membership in the Advisory Group is five years, rotating to vice chair in the third year and to chair in the fourth year. This appointment will commence in 2010, with reappointment by the AIA president considered annually through 2014. Associate Advisory Group members participate on a year-to-year basis with potential for consideration for an Appointed Advisory Group position.
