Historic Resources Committee - Allied Organization Awards, Grants, and Fellowships

The AIA Historic Resources Committee (HRC) maintains this list of awards, grants and fellowships offered by allied preservation organizations. If you would like to suggest an addition to the list, please send the information to hrc@aia.org.

SESAH Best of the South: Preserving Southern Architecture Award. The Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians seeks nominations for the Best of the South: Preserving Southern Architecture Award. This annual award honors a project that preserves or restores an historic building, or complex of buildings, in an outstanding manner and that demonstrates excellence in research, technique, and documentation. Projects in the twelve-state (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) region.

US/ICOMOS Ann Webster Smith Award for International Heritage Achievement. The Ann Webster Smith Award honors an American individual, group of persons or institution, in the public or private sector, for extraordinary and sustained achievement in perpetuating Ann Webster Smith’s quest to make the United States a respected partner and trustworthy pillar to support the conservation of the cultural heritage in all parts of the world.

Richard Morris Hunt Fellowship is administered by the French Heritage Society. Past fellows can join the Fellowship group on Linkedin.

The Rome Prize in Historic Preservation and Conservation administered by the American Academy in Rome.

The Fitch Mid-Career Grant and the Richard Blinder Award administered by the James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation.

The Gabriel Prize administered by the Western European Architectural Foundation.

ICCROM Fellowships administered by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property.

The Jane Jacobs Medal administered by the Rockefeller Foundation.

Fulbright Scholar Program administered by the Council of International Exchange of Scholars.

Architectural Conservation Grants from The Getty Grant Program offers architectural conservation grants to support the preservation of significant, listed historic buildings or sites. Funded projects are intended to strengthen the practice of architectural conservation, provide training opportunities and serve as models for the preservation of other historic sites. All applications are reviewed by a panel of international experts. Planning grants provide up to $75,000 for the research, analysis, and documentation necessary to the development of a comprehensive conservation plan. Implementation funds of up to $250,000 are available on a highly selective basis.

International Centre of the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) Fellowship Programme
ICCROM encourages senior professionals from institutions or organizations in its Member States to apply to undertake their own research in one of the fields of study of interest to ICCROM.
