Career StagesIntern Development Program

Interns may earn IDP Supplemental Experience hours by completing approved AIA Continuing Education programs-one AIA CEU/LU is equal to one IDP experience hour. When submitting to NCARB, LU’s must be documented on the intern’s AIA Transcript. Any intern in IDP can request a free AIA Transcript here: www.aia.org/FreeTranscriptsForInterns Learn more about the American Institute of Architects’ support of IDP and Interns |

How It Works
1. Attend an AIA approved continuing education course or event.
AIA Components and AIA CES registered providers sponsor continuing education events. When interns attend an event they should follow the AIA registered architects' lead by signing in with their name and AIA member number. Event providers are responsible for submitting the attendance information to AIA, which maintains CES records. Course providers are given ten (10) days from the date of the course to report all attendance. Completed course LU's will then appear on AIA transcripts.
2. Download an AIA transcript
Interns can download a copy of their AIA transcript by logging into the AIA CES Discovery website at any time (or request a transcript in writing, one free each year). Print a PDF copy of the transcript for the date range of the courses completed.
3. Report hours in the NCARB Online Reporting System.
Report course work through the Online Reporting System by adding new supplemental experience via the "Experience Reports" tab. A PDF of the AIA transcript documenting completion of AIA-approved courses must be uploaded to the Online Reporting System at that time. Multiple courses may be submitted via one experience report as long as they appear on the transcript that is uploaded.
