About the Regional and Urban Design Committee

The Regional and Urban Design Committee (RUDC) Knowledge Community aims to improve the quality of the regional and urban environment by promoting excellence in design, planning, and public policy in the built environment. This will be achieved through its member and public education, in concert with allied community and professional groups.

Goals

  • Support and promote the AIA's agenda, including livable communities initiatives, sustainable (smart) growth principles, community assistance programs, and transportation initiatives.
  • Educate and train professionals, community representatives, and others to better understand the range of forces that shape urban design through programs, publications, and events and as active participants in the community.
  • Create links among members and with others interested in regional and urban design issues and contribute to the knowledge base of the urban design profession.
