The ASHE PDC was held this year from March 25-27, the first week of spring, in Orlando. For those of us from the Midwest, where old man winter was breathing his last cold gasp, Florida was a pleasant escape.

2002-2003 AIA/AHA Graduate Fellows Announced

The Academy of Architecture for Health and the American Hospital Association's American Society for Healthcare Engineering have selected the three recipients of the 2002/2003 AIA/AHA Graduate Fellowship in Health Facility Planning and Design.Optimal experience theory may lead to a more valid outcome measurement in behavioral environmental research.

2002 Modern Healthcare Design Awards Program
Each year Modern Healthcare honors architectural firms that have worked to improve healthcare by designing innovative and functional hospitals and healthcare buildings.

ACHA Exam Offered in Spring and Fall
Don McKahan, AIA, FACHA
Candidates for the American College of Healthcare Architect's (ACHA) Board Certificate in Healthcare Architecture have new options on exam locations and times.

Coalition for Health Environments Research (CHER) Report
Wilbur (Tib) Tussler, AIA
CHER is currently involved in several research projects, including The Nature and Rate of Change in Hospital Laboratories and The Impact of Floor Covering Decisions on Resident Safety and Well Being in Long Term Care Settings.

Pediatric ICUs: 2003 Design Award
The Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the AAH are sponsoring an award of $500 for the 2003 ICU Design Citation.

Texas A&M Students Present McGill University Health Centre Models

Seven teams of Texas A&M architecture students presented their visions of a new 4.1-million-square-foot McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).
