About the Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Knowledge Community serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the general public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP monitors the development of computer technology and its impact on architectural practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse. TAP acts as the members' advocate to, and liaison with, developers of software tools used in the design and construction industry. Furthermore, TAP collects and disseminates information to members on best practices related to the use of computer technology in architecture and construction.

Goals

  • Increase participation by knowledge community membership in generating "body of knowledge" for knowledge community
  • Continually monitor developments in information technology as they apply to the architecture profession
  • Disseminate timely information bulletins to TAP members
  • Enable informed decision making by knowledge community members regarding technology issues.
