Intelligent Building Models and Downstream Use:
How Innovation in the AIA Contract Documents Could Benefit Designer, Owner, and Contractor

Current AIA Contract Documents treat electronic data as direct equivalents of drawings and specifications. Ownership is equated with the right to use. With electronic data, a more flexible approach, similar to software licensing, could be considered. The TAP Advisory Group submitted these proposals to the AIA Documents Committee.
