Wisconsin State Capitol Building

The 2017-19 state budget remains stalled in search of an agreement on transportation funding. AIA Wisconsin continues to encourage state legislative leaders to support additional funding for the state building program and removing the proposed annual cap on state historic tax credits. In addition, AIA Wisconsin is working to protect the state licensing of architects from initiatives to deregulate occupations and professions. Adequate funding for state facilities is critical to address an estimated $4 billion backlog of maintenance and repair projects. The proposed $10 million annual cap on the state historic tax credit program would create uncertainty and deter owners from investing in rehabilitation projects vital to the redevelopment of communities across Wisconsin. Contact your state legislators today for status report on state budget and to express your support for protecting our investment in state facilities and an effective incentive for redeveloping local historic buildings.
