2016 Focus on Design Awards Program
The Focus on Design Awards program was a night to remember! Not only did guests hear interesting architectural commentary by Mr. Philip Black, jury chair for AIA Birmingham, but they also enjoyed the talents of many various local artists.
The theme of the evening was "speak-easy" and Mr. Charlie Setterfield and his architectural class at Sinclair worked collaboratively to construct the Obfuscation, designed by Ms. Donna Kronenberger. It was both exciting and entertaining to watch as the attendees were challenged to find the entry and provide the password to enter. Once inside, guests enjoyed the performances by the Bright Moments Quintet, especially the very talented vocalist Ms. Felita LaRock.
Ms. Mary Rogero was the emcee and gave an interesting perspective on the work underway by Miami University architecture students, including rehabilitation of the Over-the-Rhine district in Cincinnati. Mr. Dave Bills paid tribute to the architectural achievements and artistic contributions of Mr. Terry Welker, FAIA.
The winners of the design awards were announced and the recipients were given time to discuss their projects. Congratulations to the following members:
