Falk Leads Elementary Students in Creating Park Designs for the North Topeka "NOTO" Arts District
Bryan Falk of Falk Architecture believes kids should learn design basics early.
Bryan Falk, AIA, believes one is never too young to learn about the arts and architecture. That's why he spends the second Saturday of each month teaching elementary age kids about art and design at the North Topeka "NOTO" Arts Center, which is located within the NOTO Arts District.
In January, Falk taught a class on architecture and showed students how to use trace paper, create site plans, and how to tell difference between plan and elevation views. The kids also came up with some great design ideas for a future park planned in the NOTO Arts District.
Students' park designs included sculptures with climbable nets, rock and water features, caves, trails, and performance areas.
Best of all, some of the park design concepts may be used as inspiration for the final park planned for the NOTO Arts District.
