Wisconsin 2018 State Capitol Day

Wisconsin's State Capitol Day

Representative Chris Taylor met with AIA Wisconsin leaders

Advocating for the profession, state and local AIA Wisconsin leaders met with their state legislators on March 21 as part of State Capitol Day 2018. Prior to heading up to the State Capitol, State Representative Chris Taylor (D-Madison) provided an overview of the current legislative landscape and offered her insights into effective grassroots advocacy. AIA Wisconsin leaders encouraged state legislators to reach out to architects as a resource on important design, building safety and community development issues. The architects thanked legislators for their strong bipartisan support for state historic tax credits, additional funding for state facilities and streamlining the state building program. Noting the study underway by DSPS of all state occupational licenses, AIA leaders shared their stories about what architects do every day to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.
