Be an advocate for architecture!

We know that legislation and regulations affect your business and its bottom line. We also know that when you participate in the political arena, you must play both defense and offense. That’s why the AIA is involved in protecting and advocating for the profession’s interest on key issues.

A Political Action Committee (PAC) is an invaluable political tool that allows architects a greater opportunity to receive a fair hearing on issues and have a seat at the table when decisions are made.

ADVOCACY gives us a seat at the table ... Arizona ARCHIPAC gives us a voice.

Consider it an INVESTMENT in your bottom line. That's right, you get a RETURN for your participation. Whether it is a tax on architectural services, statewide code changes, the legislative review of architects' licensure requirements or deregulation, the Arizona Legislature addresses issues that can cost you plenty.

Architecture is among the most highly regulated--and most complex--professions of any field. By INVESTING in Arizona AchiPAC, you raise the level of awareness of architects in the political process. Additionally, you can help elect lawmakers who are supportive of your political agenda, and most importantly, understand the nature of your profession.

Our PAC gives us a valuable tool when AIA members and our lobbyist meet with AZ representatives who wish to align themselves with our organization or support us in our efforts regarding legislation. Last year, John Glenn, AIA, was able to hand deliver campaign disbursements to our legislative allies, making crucial ties for AIA Arizona. This year we would like to repeat that effort to maintain, and build, our coalitions for the issues that affect us.

Arizona ArchiPAC Goals

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 by August 15th. If we meet that goal, Tina Litteral, Hon. AIA will personally give $250 to our PAC! If we receive $10 from 1,000 members--or $25 from just 400 members--across the state, our goal is met. This is your PAC for architecture in Arizona and we need to raise funds for this election cycle.

This is a fund that is not part of your membership dues and is different from the AIA ArchiPAC at the national level. PACs have strict rules as to how they collect and spend money, so it cannot be funded by your AIA dues or by the AIA itself; our PAC must be funded by our membership as individuals.

The political environment is very charged these days, with many strong voices emerging, and we have the great opportunity to be one of them.

Win tickets to either the AIA AZ 2018 Design Awards Gala or the AIA WMR 2018 Design Awards Gala

We've created a great opportunity for a double win for our members to not only actively support AIA Arizona advocacy efforts, but also to attend one of our main events this fall!

For every $100 donated to the AIA Arizona ArchiPAC between January 1, 2018 and September 1, 2018--you will receive 1 raffle ticket for a chance to win two (2) complimentary tickets to either the AIA Western Mountain Region Awards Gala at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort on October 5 or the AIA Arizona Awards Gala at the Phoenix Art Museum on November 9, 2018.

If you have already donated $100 or more this year--you are already in the drawing, but you can increase your odds of winning. If you have donated less than $100 this year--you can donate again and get to at least that $100 mark to be included in the drawing.

Support John Glenn, AIA in His Campaign for State Representative, LD24

Another opportunity to support our interests as an Architectural community at the State level this year from the Government Affairs perspective is to support the campaign of John Glenn, AIA in his run for State Representative in Legislative District 24. Whether or not this is your voting district, it is vital that we support his campaign to get our voices heard within the legislature. Amongst other needed support, John is in need of campaign donations.
