John Glenn, AIA, for Legislative District 24

John Glenn, AIA  on the Ballot for November 2018!

Congratulations to John Glenn, AIA--he is officially a candidate for Legislative District 24! John successfully gathered and submitted the required number of petitions to secure a spot on the ballot, no small feat. Whether or not LD24 is your voting district, it is vital that we support his campaign to ensure our voices are heard by the legislature.

It is critical for all of us in the Design Industry to understand that many state legislators and governors across the country, including Arizona, are pushing an agenda to de-license many professionals including Architects; all under the guise of supporting small business. As a result, in 2016 Geologists now have an optional license in Arizona, and Landscape Architects would have suffered the same fate, if not for a concerted effort by the Design Community to stop the state legislature from implementing this change.

This legislation will likely be considered again and an effort to deregulate Architects will be part of the agenda. The Design and Building Industry needs a voice to speak on our behalf. John has been instrumental in his past leadership of the AIA Arizona Government Affairs Committee which monitors proposed legislation that could have a detrimental impact upon our profession. Holding a seat in the legislature will only strengthen John's ability to serve the community.

It has been 40 years+ since Arizona sent an Architect to the legislature and the time is long overdue. Although District 24 is located in Phoenix, John will be an advocate for all architects in Arizona.

How Can You Help?

Campaigns run on volunteers, but they need funds as well--and fundraisers are a big component of keeping any campaign well-oiled and running. We will share information as news of events becomes available.

Monetary and non-monetary support of any kind is critical for a successful political campaign, :
