1996 Newly Elected Fellow for Golden Empire
To be elevated to AIA Fellow status is AIA’s highest membership honor. A Fellow is recognized for their exceptional work and significant contributions to architecture and society and exemplifies excellence. The prestige of FAIA after your name is unparalleled and the judging is rigorous. Only 3 percent of the AIA members have this distinction.
On February 20, 1996, David R. Cartnal became AIA Golden Empire’s first member to be elevated to the College of Fellows by the 1996 Jury of Fellows. To this day, David R. Cartnal, FAIA is the chapters only Fellow. David practiced for nearly 50 years with most of his career spent with BFGC Architects. He is now enjoying retirement life in Northern California.
It is with great pleasure and excitement as we celebrate the chapter's 40th anniversary to nominate William J. Melby, AIA for the 2019 Class of Fellows. He has been part of this community for 40 years, has been a successful AIA firm owner for 25 years and has served the institution with great honor and respect. We hope to celebrate next year at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas where newly elevated Fellows will be honored. If elevated, Bill will proudly be Golden Empire's second Fellow.
