Centennial Celebration: Call for Participants
AIA Rochester's 100th year celebration is well underway! Already we've received coverage for our press conference announcing the celebration events with the County and City at the airport, had January 23, 2019 declared AIA Rochester Day by both the County and the City, and on March 1 had a well attended Launch Party for our upcoming fashion show with IIDA, Product Runway, which will feature on October 18 at Fashion Week of Rochester.
There are still plenty of opportunities to become involved. Specifically, we have two requests at this time. First, we need a committee to help curate a tribute to the iconic Rochester buildings and architects of the past 100 years that will be on display at the Design Awards Gala on June 14. History buffs and creative exhibit designers needing an outlet are all welcome. Second, please save the date for ImagineRIT, which will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. AIA Rochester and the RIT Master of Architecture students will be running an interactive children's exhibit all day to promote the profession to our future architects, and we will need volunteers to help cover shifts.
Stay tuned for the ribbon cutting date for our Installation Competition winning projects at Midtown Commons around Memorial Day and plan to attend. These Installations will be up and open to the public all summer. Finally, save the date for our Product Runway fashion show at Fashion Week of Rochester which will take place on October 18, 2019. Contact Michelle Murnane, AIA at email@example.com for more information about all of these events and to participate.
