Update On The Future Of AIA Regions
The role of regions in the AIA is currently undergoing review as surveyed members shared that the organization at this level was not critical to them. Instead, state representation is recognized as more effective and important. AIA is studying a re-organization that focuses on a state representation, which allows for individualized support and closer connection for members. The review is still in early stages and plans to vote on the changes are scheduled for the AIA national conference in Philadelphia in 2021. While the relationship between AIA Springfield and the Central States Region has been healthy, dissolving a formal organization with Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa does not preclude future activities and events with these states. It is quite possible that conferences and award programs could continue on a regional basis, as well as introducing new multi-state conferences and programs.
This is a big change for our organization, and we are interested in your input. Please let us know your thoughts and we will forward them to AIA National.
