The Architects Section of the Joint Examining Board received a report last month on the results of a continuing education audit for the 2016 state license renewal cycle. A total of 397 architects were audited for compliance with state continuing education requirements. Of this sample, 51 were not in compliance, reflecting a compliance rate of 87.2%. About two-thirds of the architects audited submitted AIA/CES transcripts, which are recognized as sufficient documentation in state administrative rules. Architects in Wisconsin must have 24 hours of continuing education, including 12 hours related to health, safety and welfare, to renew their two-year state license.
