Wisconsin State Budget

The Legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance has been meeting in executive session to act on provisions in the 2017-19 state budget. Earlier this month, the committee voted to direct the Department of Safety and Professional Services to study state occupational licenses and recommend licenses that should be eliminated. The budget-writing committee will consider funding for the state building program this week, with AIA Wisconsin supporting increased funding to address a backlog of needed repairs. Later this month, the committee will take up the Governor’s budget proposal to cap state historic tax credit awards, which AIA Wisconsin argues would stifle valuable redevelopment initiatives in communities across the state.
