About this Course

Owners are realizing the value of incorporating sustainable design and materials into their facilities has on the environment, building efficiency, and occupant health. Many Owners are now shifting traditional sustainability coordination efforts from Architects of Record to Consultants who specialize in sustainability and may or may not be architects. During this webinar, attendees will learn about the AIA’s new C204™-2020 Scope of Services for Consultants providing Sustainable Project Services, including: responsibilities of the Sustainable Projects Consultant; involvement during Procurement; flow- down of sustainability requirements to other parties; and the expansive table of Supplemental Services. Presenters will also share updates about the Sustainable Projects Guide, D503™-2020.

Learning Objective 1:
Become familiar with the AIA’s new C204™-2020 Scope of Services for Consultants providing Sustainable Project Services.

Learning Objective 2:
Examine how C204 relates to the Sustainable Projects Exhibit (E204™-2017) and C103™–2015, (Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Consultant without a Predefined Scope of Consultant’s Services) and how these documents can be used to facilitate construction of sustainable buildings that have a positive impact on the health, safety and welfare of building occupants.

Learning Objective 3:
Learn about the responsibilities of the Sustainable Projects Consultant (including conducting a sustainable workshop and creating a sustainability plan), supplemental services, and the flow down of sustainability requirements to other parties. Examine how a clear understanding of each party’s unique roles and responsibilities will reduce misunderstandings, contribute to successful sustainable objectives and project, and enhance the health and well-being of building occupants.

Explore the updates made to the Sustainable Projects Guide, D503™-2020, including a discussion of environmental product ratings and certification systems.
