About this Course

"You have to find what sparks a light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world" - Oprah Winfrey Today's educational system increasingly values STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Math) learning objectives and outcomes. Out of all spaces common to school facilities, the theater may be the best for incorporating opportunities not only in the Arts, but in technology, science, and engineering. As such, providing students access to modern theatrical systems is of critical importance to ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. In this webinar, we will dive into basic aesthetic, functional, engineering, and financial considerations when designing stage systems for schools. Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to, (1) the different needs of elementary, middle, and high schools, (2) the minimum-required lighting & controls for an 'adequate' system to options to transform a school theater into a modern Performing Arts Center, (3) new and emerging technologies in stage lighting and controls, (4) how to maximize usage of an auditorium through house-lighting and ensuring multi-functionality, and (5) live Q+A.
