Optional Post-conference Tours

1-4pm Taste of Rhode Island ($70)

Join us for a fantastic progressive lunch tour through one of America’s favorite cities! With more restaurants per capita than any city in America, and home to one of the most highly regarded culinary schools in the world, Providence is loaded with delicious food. This tour will visit several great restaurants in the city, while exploring different neighborhoods. Great food combined with a great tour, this is a taste of Rhode Island!   The tour will depart and return from the Renaissance hotel.

2-4pm Providence Architecture Tour ($35)

Named the “Country’s Best Small City” in 2014 by Architectural Digest, Providence has so much to see! Led by a well-known local architectural historian, you will love this journey through Providence as you explore the beauty and story of one of America’s oldest cities.   The tour will depart and return from the Renaissance hotel.

2-5pm Brown University Tour ($35)

Visitors to Brown University discover a walkable campus housing a unique collection of buildings that catalogue a history of American architecture. Within minutes, one-time travels centuries, from the brick and wood of University Hall (1772) to the metal and glass of Kieran Timberlake’s new Engineering Building (2018). Embedded in the College Hill National Historic District, which offers one of the nation’s finest collections of restored Colonial and Federal domestic architecture, Brown is a setting for many conversations about how architecture both shapes and mirrors our values. This tour of the Brown campus will consider issues as broad ranging as slavery and the evolution of knowledge gathering and dissemination. We will see in its architecture how the University has made a 180-degree turn from an inward focus to an engagement with the world outside its gates. And we will explore the unique accidents that have made the Main Green one of the nation’s great outdoor spaces.  The tour will start with a 30-minute presentation at the Renaissance and then the group will depart for the tour.
