YAF Summit 30: Mission 2130

Practice Innovation Lab (YAF SUmmit 25) group discusses their pitch before the final presentation.
What will the world look like in 100 years?
How has the profession of architecture evolved to meet the demands of our future communities and climate?
What technology has been invented to support these efforts and provide for both planetary and human health?
What do architects need to start doing today in order to proactively address these upcoming changes instead of reacting once there is no other choice?
This is Mission 2130.
Mission 2130 is an application-based attendee event organized by the Young Architects Forum (YAF). The summit seeks to respond to critical issues present in the profession that early career architects are uniquely poised to answer. Mission 2130 will host 50 architects from across the nation to address challenges the profession will face in the next 100 years, focusing on Architecture, Society, and our Planet.
It’s going to require bold thinking, unconventional ideas, and most importantly, you. Help drive change forward by applying for a spot at Mission 2130.
The in-person event will take place August 25-27, 2022 in Pittsburgh. Selected individuals will participate in 2-day plenary sessions and facilitated workshops as teams to ideate and develop potential solutions to the profession's problems of tomorrow. At the end of the event, each team will present their work build a tapestry of solutions that will inform existing and future work done by AIA.
- The first part of the summit was held April 5-7, 2022 as virtual charrettes open to the public. The Code Red Charrettes were team-based workshops that offered attendees the opportunity to work collaboratively and break down high level issues that will affect our community in 100 or more years. The results of these charrettes have been taken into consideration for the planning of the main event.
