Attention: AIA members interested in declaring candidacy for AIA National Board of Directors
On December 1, 2022, architect members in good standing may declare candidacy for AIA elected national office (First Vice President or Treasurer); any individual eligible under the Bylaws for selection as an At-large Director may declare candidacy for that office.
The deadline for declaring one’s candidacy is 5pm ET, Monday, February 6, 2023.
These elections will take place at the 2023 AIA Annual Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in San Francisco.
AIA members interested in standing for election to the offices of 2024-2026 At-large Director, 2024-2025 Treasurer, or 2024 First Vice President/2025 President-elect at the 2023 AIA Annual Business Meeting, should direct their questions to AIA Secretary Britt Lindberg, FAIA, c/o Corporate Secretary and Vice President of Governance and Awards Pam Day, Hon. AIA Board of Directors: Position Descriptions
The role of each member of the AIA Board of Directors (the Board) varies significantly based on the responsibilities assigned in AIA’s governing documents. Chapters 5 and 6 of the Bylaws and the Rules of the Board provide an overall scope of responsibility for those elected to the Board. These position descriptions have been created to provide members, potential candidates, and the Board itself with an overview of each of the Board members’ roles and responsibilities.

Amendments to AIA Bylaws
The AIA Board of Directors is sponsoring amendments to the AIA Bylaws, scheduled for consideration by the delegates at the annual business meeting on June 7, 2023. Bylaws amendments require approval by an affirmative two-thirds (2/3) majority of the votes cast—or accredited to be cast—by delegates at the meeting, determined in the manner prescribed in Chapter 9 of the Bylaws. Resolutions
Delegates at the 2023 AIA Annual Meeting will be asked to consider resolutions which require approval by a majority of the vote of the delegates present and voting. The text of the proposed resolutions may be found here.
