With the intent of growing the Chapter, the Chapter’s Board of Directors is inviting members of the AIA Canada Society to participate as volunteers in various committees, which are important building blocks of the Chapter. These committees will play a direct and supporting role in the Chapter’s day-to-day activities, including: organizing fundraising, sponsorship, networking opportunities as they arise with a primary focus on delivering member services 2.0 and with an overall result of the Chapter’s growth and success.

The Board of Directors is looking for committed volunteers for the committees

Each committee requires an individual to lead a team of committee participants. In case the Lead is not available, the committee shall depute an available member to fill in the role or request a board member to step in for the interim. The committees include:

Communication Committee

Committee Mandate: Assist in preparing different communication messages to report Chapter updates. Role will include review or assist in developing messaging for programs organized by various committees viz Event, Marketing, events etc.

Reports to: Secretary of the Chapter

Short-term Objectives: Prepare immediate messaging to be provided on the website for Chapter updates, activities and incorporation information

Membership Committee

Committee Mandate: Growth and increase of new members for AIA Canada Society. Address questions related to membership in compliance with AIA National regulations and Society Bylaws. Maintain latest roster of AIA members of Canada.

Reports to: Secretary (President)

Short-term Objectives: Provide recommendation for yearly dues for all categories for vote by board. Increase membership across all categories with a focus on allied membership.

Treasurer and Budget Committee

Committee Mandate: Prepare, maintain and update AIA Canada budget. Collect member dues, sponsorship dues and assist in maintaining budget and collection for other committees viz, professional development committee, events, etc.

Professional Development Committee (CEU committee)

Committee Mandate: The committee will be responsible for the professional development and the fundraising/sponsorship for AIA Canada Society members.

The Committee will provide advice to the Board with respect to developing programs, relationship with organizations and resources for providing Continuing Education Units for members of AIA Canada Society. These programs will include monitoring and approving CEU credits for AIA Canada Society hosted events, lectures, seminars, vendor-delivered presentations, webinars, etc. It may also provide CEU for white papers, competition and development of reference information that will facilitate members to gain knowledge addressing CEU units per AIA National Guidelines. The committee is also primarily responsible for approval of presentations that meet AIA Canada Society’s commercialization policy and guidelines.

Short-term Objectives: Develop Commercialization policy and Guidelines and structure program forms and documents including toolkit for presenters.

Event Committee –Eastern Canada and Quebec

Committee Mandate: Organize events to assist committees viz CEU, etc, marketing, sponsoship committee in delivering programs for Eastern Canada and Quebec. Committee will co-lead events as well as independently organize events.

Short-term Objectives: Host networking events, seminar for members delivering CEU as well as providing sponsorship opportunities.

Event Committee –Western Canada-Prairies

Committee Mandate: Organize events to assist committees viz CEU, etc, marketing, sponsorship committee in delivering programs for Western Canada. Committee will co-lead events as well as independently organize events.

Short-term Objectives: Host networking events, seminar for members delivering CEU as well as providing sponsorship opportunities.

Sponsorship Committee

Committee Mandate: Provide recommendation for sponsorship goals and categories. Actively coordinate generating sponsorship along with other committees to meet yearly budget targets.

Reports to: President and Treasurer

Short-term Objectives: Finalize sponsorship categories and financial goals

Marketing Committee

Committee Mandate: Complete and update the website on a regular basis in coordination with other committees and Communication Committee.

Reports to: President, Vice President

Short-term Objectives: Update the AIA Microsite for AIA Canada Society with the incorporation, other regulatory and member services 2.0 requirements

Awards Committee

Committee Mandate: Develop award programs for recongnition of AIA Canada Members. Primarily lead the Honarary fellowship membership program submission for AIA National for selected individuals from Canada

Reports to : Secretary

Short-term Objectives: Prepare a template, policy and communication for the Honorary fellowship program to be launched in 2019-2020
