AIA Rochester will be celebrating the centennial of the establishment of an Architectural Association in 2019.

Members of AIA Rochester have come together to form a Centennial Committee charged with the task of programming events which play towards acknowledging the City’s history while inviting a look forward in the development of our community, our profession, and our organization.

To participate in AIA Rochester's Centennial Committee or to volunteer to help facilitate our events, please contact Michelle Murnane, AIA at

Installation Competition

We want to reach out to the community to help demonstrate how design matters in our everyday lives. In that vein, we are proud to host this competition to design and construct a collection of temporary interactive spaces within the City Center of Rochester, NY.

The goal of this competition is to create a series of interactive follies that encourage public engagement and in doing so, highlight the importance of architecture. Participating teams are to build upon a plinth provided by AIA Rochester, in which the design should be evocative of the most easily relatable form of architecture in Western Culture – the gabled house.

See the top right box on this page for Call for Entries and submission materials.  All proposals are due February 15, 2019.  Please contact AIA Rochester with any questions or concerns.
