Plans Examiner (2 positions), Summit County

Summit County is searching for two plans examiners. Under administrative direction of the Chief Building Official the employee; reviews non-residential construction documents for the renovation or construction of commercial and industrial buildings for state and/or county building code compliance; evaluates engineering/architectural conformance standards. Performs other related duties as required.


  • Registered Professional Engineer or Architect plus a minimum of eight (8) years of design and/or construction experience which includes proven management/supervision responsibility.

Architect, Department of Veterans Affairs

The Cleveland VA Medical Center is looking to backfill one architect position.


The employee participates in engineering surveys, and initiates, formulates, and adapts design plans and specifications. The Architect independently gathers the necessary architectural information and processes this information using recognized professional architectural techniques to accomplish established goals. Goals, objectives, and work assignments are set by the Planning and Construction Section Supervisor; however, technical accomplishment and methodology are accomplished independently. Provides original detailed drawings utilizing resident AutoCad computer system to provide the finished product.Initiates professional application of the physical sciences, pertinent calculations, and sound judgment in compliance with existing directives, codes, and precedents for new construction, modifications or alterations, additions to existing buildings, utility systems and building service equipment. Prepares cost estimates of materials, equipment, and labor and maintains a database to determine cost trends in the local construction market.

Prepares drawings, layouts, and plans for proposed additions, improvements, alterations, modifications, and equipment installations, utilizing written specifications, photographs, sketches, and models. Prepares drawings of utility systems, roadways, parking lots, and landscaping in addition to structural requirements.

Project Architect

GLSD Architects, a division of The GEIS Companies is a nationally recognized Design-Builder seeking a full-time Project Architect for our Streetsborolocation. 1-9 years of experience is preferred. Efficient in using Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with the use of Photoshop, Acrobat Reader/Writer, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel software is desired. Detail-oriented in the developing of construction documents.

This applicant will be responsible for design development, construction drawings, and construction administration. Will be hiring within the next 30 days. Competitive salary, based on experience.
