The 2020 Housing Awards, presented by the AIA Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community, emphasize the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource. This year, 12 projects were recognized for this honor across four categories:
- Category One: One- and Two-Family Custom Residences
- Category Two: One- and Two-Family Production Homes
- Category Three: Multifamily Housing
- Category Four: Specialized Housing

Situated in the town of Graton, California, this home accommodates the owner’s request to be near Sonoma's picturesque cycling routes & a tight-knit community.
Perfectly balancing rustic and warm with simple and open, this home is a retreat and part-time residence for a multigenerational family.
Built on a plot of land so small it barely registered as a development parcel, this project added seven apartments to Philadelphia’s Chinatown neighborhood.
