Reopening America: Strategies for safer schools

As education officials evaluate reopening schools this fall, AIA is issuing a new report detailing strategies that can reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission in K-12 facilities.

The report and 3D models were developed by a team of architects, public health experts, engineers and facility managers as part of AIA’s initiative, “Reopening America: Strategies for safer buildings.” The team used emerging research and public health data to develop the strategies, which can be implemented immediately.

An extensive framework of additional strategies is provided in AIA’s Re-occupancy Assessment Tool. A seven-step Risk Management Plan for Buildings is also available to assist businesses with assessing hazards, applying architectural and engineering strategies, and reducing risk. Read more.
