Women's Leadership Summit Virtual Series
Webinars to help you advance your career
Reboot. Refresh. Refocus.
An architect’s work is filled with purpose and significance. Day in and day out, architects are charged with designing safe, beautiful, and restorative spaces for all of society. At times, architects forego their own wellbeing and mental health to achieve high results. This path can lead to unsettling feelings of dissatisfaction, resentment, and burnout. With actionable tools and greater systemic support, individuals can rediscover a career that is fulfilling and exciting.
We’re bringing you two insightful sessions that will address these issues head-on. In the first session, An Architect’s Lifelong Journey Toward Career Satisfaction, moderator Mia Scharphie, founder of Build Yourself Workshop, will lead a conversation with an impressive line-up of panelists who have explored non-traditional design career pathways: Barbara Bouza, FAIA, President at Walt Disney Imagineering; Leona Hudelson, Product Design Manager at Netflix; Andrea Swiatocha, AIA, Deputy Chief of Facilities at DC Public Schools; and Rachel Bascombe, AIA, NOMA, architect at IBI Group.
The second session, Tackling Mental Health in Architectural Practice, led by moderator, Je’Nen Chastain of Apostrophe Consulting, will provide tools for employees and employers to prioritize wellbeing in the workplace. Je’Nen will be joined by licensed psychotherapist, Dr. Akua Boateng and Annelise Pitts, AIA architect at Shepley Bulfinch.
