2021 Legislative Session

Monitoring the 2021 Maryland General Assembly

House Chamber

Maryland House of Delegates

The AIA Maryland Legislative Committee, together with our lobbyist, monitors and tracks legislation that impacts the practice of architecture in Maryland. Each week, during the legislative session, we will post a list of bills we are following, a summary of the matter, hearing information and, where applicable, include letters of support, opposition or other materials.

If you have questions regarding any bill, or would like more information on AIA Maryland's legislative activities, please contact us.

There is a very full docket of hearings happening each week and the number of issues we are monitoring has increased greatly. In many cases we are only able to provide written testimony though there are several instances where we have been invited to give oral testimony.  If you are interested in following any of the scheduled hearings, look here for the YouTube Channel Information. Check below each week for our current list of bills and activities.

Does your firm work on State contracts? Please read the information on House Bill 1210. While this bill has very good intentions, AIA Maryland is concerned how this legislation will impact architects working on State contracts. At this time, the bill appears to have solid support for passage so we are hoping our concerns can be addressed as the rules and regulations are drafted. If you are interested in participating in an ad hoc workgroup to address the impact of this legislation on architects, please email Sandi Worthman.
