Fountainview’s design encourages interaction between residents of Fountainview and the Playa Vista community. It is designed to engage with the urban lifestyle Playa Vista offers with walking paths and easy access to restaurants, retail, and recreational opportunities. Inside the project, multiple communal program elements build upon the active and engaging Playa Vista culture. The community is within walking distance to two grade schools and Loyola Marymount University.

Jury comments

To understand the program requirements for today’s aging demographic, the design firm conducted a research study regarding “Foundations of Design for Active Aging.” Four trends emerged from the study and informed the design: connectivity, choice, independence and wellness. The jury felt these trends were all accommodated in the built design.
