Linden Park Apartments was originally constructed in 1967 as one of the earliest HUD 202-financed projects in the country to provide apartment living for seniors 62 and older. However, the property fell into a dire state of disrepair. In 2014, a developer stepped in to lead the revitalization of this once vibrant twelve-story property. The vision was to modernize all systems, making them energy efficient and state of the art, while transforming the exterior to appear like a new building.

Jury comments

The jury was impressed with this very successful transformation of an existing affordable housing high rise serving seniors in Baltimore. Especially important was the creation of space for - and partnering with - outside organizations to bring a number of services on-site. This will help support seniors who wish to age in place in a residence at Linden Park. This project brings renewal to the neighborhood, while improving the lives of its residents.
