Salt River Pima, Maricopa Indian Community Justice Center

Architect: Gould Evans

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

Awarded a citation

The justice center is uniquely designed for an urban tribe bridging tradition, modern expectations, and proximity to rapid urbanization. A certain formality is needed to respond to the small community where everyone knows everyone else. The justice center provides a unique but familiar place in the desert suitable for privacy, flexibility and retreat.

"Timeless building with incredible attention to craft and execution of the building with the use of materials that are import to climate and sustainability." ~ Jury comment
