Maravilla at the Domain
Weaving together wellness programming, attentive service, and imaginative cuisine, the LEED Silver–certified Maravilla at The Domain is a walkable and connected community for aging adults. Residents enjoy a stylish setting in one of Austin’s vibrant shopping and lifestyle districts.
The project features three mid-rise towers that provide independent living, assisted living, and memory support. They are organized around four different courtyards that are all connected by a first-floor center for healthy living. Inside the center, Maravilla’s restaurant offers signature dishes. It is supported by a bar that serves as a lively spot for happy hours and after-dinner drinks and a bistro that serves grab-and-go items throughout the day. Additional dining options are located just a short walk from Maravilla’s main entrance.

“The building's layout in three linear towers maximizes daylight and is a great solution to break down its large mass,” said the jury. “The architecture is straightforward and dignified.”
The project’s amenities work in concert to support a hospitality-inspired lifestyle focused on providing residents with a healthy, positive balance every day. A fitness center, pool, movie theater, library, and community room are all sources for holistic nourishment. On-site therapy is also available to both residents and members of the surrounding community. A membership program that would allow for a neighboring 55 and up community to enjoy Maravilla’s amenities is under consideration.

To better support memory care residents, the team was challenged to create a more emotionally and cognitively supportive environment. Maravilla has two dedicated memory care floors with 17 apartments that foster an intimate living experience within a secure environment. The staff works closely with residents and their families to create highly individualized and innovative programs that, while stimulating and engaging, remain as stress-free as possible for the resident. While the design fosters a secure setting, memory care residents and guests can engage with the building’s amenities and exterior spaces.
Throughout the project, inspiration from the local vernacular and surrounding landscape can be felt in the interior and exterior design elements. Together, they promote a sense of relaxed elegance that balances resort-style hospitality and residential warmth. The material palette reflects colors and textures found in the Texas Hill Country. Locally sourced stone, reclaimed leather belts, and blackened iron details add rustic elements to the clean and modern architectural approach.
