Registered Architect/Specifications Writer

Garmann/Miller Architects-Engineers is seeking a Registered Architect-Specifications Writer with a minimum 12-15 years of experience in education, commercial, healthcare and industrial architecture. Position currently available in our Columbus or Minster, Ohio, offices.

Candidates will be responsible for writing the specifications and coordinating them with the drawings. Other responsibilities will include working with the design team to ensure all disciplines specifications are coordinated. Required skills include experience with construction contracts, specifications writing, innovative problem solving, good communication and potential management skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Minimum 12-15 years of experience in education, commercial, healthcare and industrial architecture

·         Professional degree in architecture; bachelor’s degree or above

·         Architectural registration preferred but not required

·         Well-rounded experience in all phases of design, construction documentation, codes, specifications and construction administration

·         Proficient understanding and expertise in SpecLink and/or E-Spec software

·         Excellent drawing skills and knowledge of construction techniques/detailing

·         Understanding of construction contracts and general conditions of construction projects

·         Experience with building and zoning codes

·         Understanding and ability to coordinate the work of engineering disciplines

·         Proactive working relationships with clients and consultants

·         Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and listening skills

·         Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated, detail-oriented

·         Ability to deliver polished marketing and client presentations

·         Positive work ethic with the highest degree of integrity

Garmann/Miller Architects-Engineers is seeking an Interior Designer with experience in the educational and commercial markets in both its Columbus and Minster, Ohio, locations. Candidates will be responsible for developing design concepts, selecting and specifying finish materials, selecting and specifying furnishings and equipment, producing construction documents, coordinating and communicating project needs with the entire design team, and presenting to and interacting directly with clients. Required skills include innovative problem solving and solid communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Previous internship and or professional experience in a design firm or related business

·         Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited program

·         Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
