Whidbey Farm, Whidbey Island, New York
The 2020 Housing Awards, presented by the AIA Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community, emphasize the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource. This year, 12 projects were recognized for this honor across four categories:
- Category One: One- and Two-Family Custom Residences
- Category Two: One- and Two-Family Production Homes
- Category Three: Multifamily Housing
- Category Four: Specialized Housing
Broadway Housing
On a long-dormant site in Sacramento, this compact urban infill development features nine small production homes targeted at young families seeking homes.
Courtyard House
This home, which sits on a sloping site overlooking Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains beyond, accommodates the daily life of a vibrant family of four.
MLK Plaza
With 167 apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom models, this new building in the Bronx serves individuals & families from a wide range of income.
PPR Residence Hall
The PPR Residence Hall along the edge of Swarthmore College’s arboretum, in Suburban Philadelphia, anchors a dynamic resident village on a constrained site.
Sonoma Farmhaus
Situated in the town of Graton, California, this home accommodates the owner’s request to be near Sonoma's picturesque cycling routes & a tight-knit community.
Whidbey Farm
Perfectly balancing rustic and warm with simple and open, this home is a retreat and part-time residence for a multigenerational family.
XS House
Built on a plot of land so small it barely registered as a development parcel, this project added seven apartments to Philadelphia’s Chinatown neighborhood.
