A framework for resilience

It is the goal of the AIA program to enable all members to be architects of resilience. Empowering member architects to address critical and emerging issues impacting the built environment by sharing relevant research and providing resources and education to equip members with the knowledge and skills needed, and advocating for polices to support innovation and prosperous practice. The AIA Sustainability Initiative’s Framework for Resilience details AIA’s position on resilience and introduces AIA’s activities for implementation. The Framework outlines the architect’s role throughout the disaster-to-resilience cycle, including response, recovery, preparedness, and mitigation.
