Membership assignment for Johnson & Wyandotte Counties
Members who wish to join AIA and live or work in Johnson or Wyandotte counties may choose their membership assignment.
If you are assigned to AIA Kansas City as your local chapter, you will be assigned to AIA Kansas as your state component, but may request assignment to AIA Missouri. Such assignment is subject to approval by the Institute’s Secretary and can be facilitated by the chapter.

- Participate in advocacy efforts on the federal, state, and local levels to elevate and protect architects’ interests including the Advocacy Summit. Our full-time staff engages with public leaders to advance QBS procurement approaches and can assist with legal advice and services to overcome procurement roadblocks.
- Stay competitive through continuing education by attending EXPLORE events hosted around the state. Go on exclusive tours, network with fellow professionals, and earn education credits.
- Attend our annual statewide conference where you can share your expertise and learn from fellow Kansas architects, and national leaders in the field.
- Network and connect with architects across the state in-person and virtually to help promote the profession and advance your career through programming such as the Executive Leadership and Business Development for Architects.

- Earn all required CEU credits free at our local office and at metro KC locations on both sides of State Line.
- Enhance your career with Pillars Leadership Program, Design U. for Emerging Professionals, and PIERS mentoring program. Engage with dynamic committees: Women in Design, Young Architects Forum, Equity in Architecture, Education Outreach, and Advocacy.
- Complete the ARE in 1 year with our free ARE Success Team, giving you guidance & mentors. Take advantage of free study materials & free study sessions for each division of the ARE.
- You’ll also be a member of our Center for Architecture & Design, collaborating with six design disciplines in the KC region. And you will receive all of the state benefits listed here by AIA KS.
