Resolutions
AIA members may submit a resolution, a formal request from the membership to the Board of Directors to take a particular action.

The delegates at the 2027 AIA Annual Business Meeting will be asked to consider resolutions that require approval by a majority vote of the delegates present and voting.
The submission deadline is Friday, February 26, 2027 at 5pm ET. The text of the proposed resolutions will be available no later than April 23, 2027.
No resolutions were received for consideration by the delegates at the 2026 AIA Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, June 10, in San Diego. As a result, the Resolutions Committee, which is charged with reviewing and validating submitted resolutions, will not be convened this year.
During the AIA Annual Business Meeting, delegates will receive updates on Resolution 1: Artificial Intelligence, adopted at the 2025 AIA Annual Business Meeting, as well as the Governance Task Force recommendations initiated through Resolution 3 at the 2024 AIA Annual Business Meeting. Learn more about the resolutions process and past resolutions below.
Anyone can write a resolution, but it must be properly sponsored in accordance with the Rules of the Board before it is submitted to the Resolutions Committee. The Resolutions Committee verifies the sponsorship, reviews the resolution, and may edit it for clarity or combine it with another similar resolution in consultation with the designated sponsor.

During the Annual Meeting of the AIA delegates, the Secretary presents to the delegates the Board of Directors' vote of support, non-support, or no position on each resolution and, if directed by the Board, a brief statement reflecting the Board's rationale for its vote.
Resolutions adopted at the Annual Meeting will be referred to the Board of Directors for consideration of ratification and implementation. Per the AIA Rules of the Board, a resolution does not take effect unless ratified by the Board. The Board may vote either to ratify or not to ratify the resolutions or may defer action until a later time.
