Member censured for violating AIA Code of Ethics
The AIA National Ethics Council has determined Geoffrey Wright, AIA (“Wright”) violated Rule 5.101 of the AIA’s 2024 Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (“Code of Ethics”).
Rule 5.101 states: Members shall treat their colleagues and employees with mutual respect and provide an equitable work environment.
The individual that filed the complaint with the National Ethics Council against Wright (“Complainant”) was an employee of the architecture firm (“Firm”) in El Paso, Texas, where Wright is a partner.
The National Ethics Council found the facts of the case were established and that, through written and oral testimony, Wright admitted his actions as alleged in the Complaint. The Complainant provided written documentation and provided testimony demonstrating her discomfort and that she reported Wright’s actions to Wright’s partner at the Firm. Rule 5.101 states that employees should be treated with mutual respect and provided an equitable work environment.
The National Ethics Council imposed the penalty of censure for Wright’s violation of Rule 5.101.
