Li Ren, AIA, is an architect, educator, and international practice leader whose work advances design for equitable communities across the United States and globally. Through his practice, leadership, and service, he brings together design excellence, social impact, and cross-cultural collaboration to shape more inclusive built environments.
At Perkins Eastman, Ren contributes to a diverse portfolio spanning housing, community facilities, and large-scale international projects. His work emphasizes stakeholder engagement and inclusive design strategies, creating environments that support social connection, economic opportunity, and long-term community resilience.
Ren’s influence extends significantly through leadership within AIA and the broader profession. As chair of the AIA Global Practice Committee, he helped advance resources supporting architects working internationally, including contributions to the Global Practice Primer. His service spans national and international roles, including leadership within AIA Middle East and engagement with the AIA Young Architects Forum, where he connects and supports emerging professionals across regions.
A committed advocate for equity and access, Ren founded the Asian American Designers Union to elevate underrepresented voices in architecture and has led initiatives supporting immigrant architects and global licensure pathways. His contributions to NCARB and licensure development further reflect his dedication to shaping a more inclusive and accessible profession.
