2024 CRAN Symposium: Design on the Edge: Nature and Technology in Northwest Residential Design
The AIA's Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN (r) ) conference in Seattle in 2024 will focus on
Welcome to the frontier. The convergence of the high-tech and the natural shapes design in the Pacific Northwest (NW); tech giants like Amazon and Microsoft power their economy and clientele, and a start-up spirit inspires the design community to push the envelope. At the same time, living amid the region’s mountains, forests, and waters has honed its sensitivity to site and sustainability. Since at least the middle of the last century, architects in the Northwest have sought ways to connect with the environment through form, space, and materiality. Today, leading practitioners are testing more sustainable construction materials like mass timber and cross-laminated timber (CLT’s), exploring new design tools, and experimenting with innovative zoning.
Join CRAN® at the intersection of these powerful forces for four days of seminars, tours, and events that will provide new inspiration, connections, and perspectives on residential architecture.
Highlights include:
- Up to 20.5 LU’s in a wide range of topics relevant to residential architecture including Residential Traditions in the NW, Mass Timber, Residential Economic Forecast, Emerging Professional Showcase, Artificial Intelligence, Practice Management, Employee Stock Ownership, and High-Performance Detailing
- Two half-day tours of standout NW homes
- Breakfast and lunch are provided through Sunday morning
- Product showcase to keep you current on the latest and greatest
