AIA Business Meeting
AIA member delegates will gather on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 1:30-3:30pm in San Diego for the annual AIA Business Meeting during the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design® to consider amendments to AIA bylaws and resolutions and candidates for national leadership positions.

In an effort to be more open and communicative regarding its discussions on the organization's business, the AIA Board of Directors would like to share the outcome from the 2025 Annual Meeting. During the meeting, delegates passed three bylaws amendments and one resolution at the annual meeting.
Townhall and Q&A Session
AIA held a Townhall and question-and-answer session for AIA members and delegates to review and discuss the proposed amendments to the AIA Bylaws, introduce declared candidates, and resolutions in advance of the AIA Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. The purpose of the sessions is to facilitate a dialogue about the amendments, answer member questions, and address any concerns prior to the Annual Meeting.

Three new leaders elected to AIA Board of Directors
BOSTON – June 6, 2025 – Three new leaders have been elected to The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Board of Directors, to serve terms beginning on December 5, 2025.
AIA delegates elected:
• Yiselle Santos Rivera, AIA, 2026 President-elect/2027 President;
• Jason Takeuchi, AIA, as 2026 – 2028 At-Large Director;
• Lisa L. Kennedy, FAIA, as 2026–2027 Treasurer.
Eligibility and campaigning
Any Architect member in good standing may declare candidacy for national office as an elected AIA officer. Any individual eligible under the Bylaws for selection as an At-Large Director by the delegates at the annual meeting may declare candidacy for that office.
Campaign rules
A member or other individual becomes a candidate, and therefore subject to the campaign rules stated in Section 6.4 of the Rules of the Board, by announcing candidacy at the last Board meeting of the year, by publicly declaring themselves as such at any meeting comprised largely of AIA members or on social media, or by notifying the Secretary in writing, indicating the office sought.
Key dates
- April 24, 2026 - Official Delegate Booklet distributed.
- May 15, 2026, at 3:00pm ET - AIA Townhall. Register.
- May 8-26, 2026 - Delegate accreditation period.
- June 10, 2026 - Elections will occur at the 2026 Annual Meeting.
- June 11, 2026 - Announcement of AIA election results
Resolutions
The delegates at the 2026 AIA Annual Meeting will be asked to consider resolutions that require approval by a majority vote of the delegates present and voting. The deadline for submission for 2026 resolutions is now closed. The text of the proposed resolutions will be available no later than April 24, 2026.
